The Start:

First Permance Feb 04Rebekka Paige sang for the first time in public at her grade 7 talent show singing "Life Goes On" by Leann Rimes. Rebekka was called to perform; the curtain opened and out walked this shy girl. The music began; she started singing, the mic was not working. She was a real professional; the song was restarted. She began to sing, to everyone surprise she was incredible. Her voice rang out in the gym making the kids clap along to the song and teachers and parents having tears in their eyes. She finished to a standing ovation of 200 plus classmates, some parents and teachers. She hasn't looked back since.

Rebekka's next performance was at the Brockville Legion Talent show; she won the singing portion of the show. 2004 Legion Talent ShowRebekka was then entered into the Valley Idol at Riverside Jam. The first time singing with a band; rehearsal consisted of 2 minutes for two songs about an hour before going on stage. Rebekka was called to perform; the first song was "Life Goes On" by Leann Rimes. The band started to play, but they were playing the song wrong. The rules stated only two false starts then you are eliminated on the third attempt. The band began to play and still played it incorrectly. Rebekka started singing the song correctly never missing a note. The band finally got the correct rhythm near the middle of the song for a great finish. The second song was "Landslide" by the Dixie Chicks. The band played the song flawlessly, Ira McWilliams played the mandolin. What a great crowd pleaser! Rebekka finished in first place which earned her the opportunity to come back and perform on the main stage at Riverside Jam for the title of Junior Idol on July 31, 2004. She performed "I Hope You Dance" by Leann Womack and "Ready to Run" by the Dixie Chicks . Later the judges said it was not only her voice, but the professionalism that she showed during the performances that won her the Valley Idol title; singing even though the band was playing it wrong showed that she was up for the challenge to become the first Junior Idol at the Riverside Jam in Carlton Place 2004.

Rebekka performed over the summer of 2004 at many fairs and festivals winning other talent shows; performing for free in front of crowds from 50 to 800 people. She has performed at shows by artist such as local duo, Healy and Orr, Eddie and the Stingrays. One of her biggest shows was her performance at Spencerville Fair 2004. She performed 4 songs to back round music between sets of Eddie and the Stingrays and Spencerville Fair 04Shania Twin. She was well received by the crowd; being overcome when people where dancing during her version of "Unchained Melody". After the performance she went out back with her friend and father to meet Shania Twin (Donna Huber) where she was warming up for her performance. Donna Huber had heard Rebekka sing but had never seen her. As they approached Shania Twin; her father said, "My daughter and her friend, would like to meet you". She was very nice, she said Hi, then shook their hands. Rebekka's father then asked, Shania Twin if she had any advice for Rebekka. Shania Twin was shocked that this little 75 lbs, 13 year old girl was the same person she had heard. Her response was, "You should be giving me advice, you don't need any from me". During Shania Twin's performance, she made reference to Rebekka again asking her to stand up and receive applause from the audience.

Rebekka Recording SongsIn the fall of 2004 Rebekka went into a local studio to record a demo CD of some cover songs that she performed. The CD is used for promotional purposes. Rebekka has written some songs and continues to write.

In Feb 2005 Rebekka performed for Palliative Care Telethon in Brockville; not finding a band she performed with back round music supplied on disk. The day before the telethon, Rebekka began to have a temperature and she awoke in the morning with a sore throat. She was to perform at 9:00 PM; at 8:30 PM she decided to go to perform. She was to perform 4 songs, but only performed 2 songs. Bruce Wylie made the comment that she should be home in bed but was a dedicated professional and had a very beautiful voice. Bruce later invited her to sing at the Dessert Festival in April 2005.

Rebekka at CHEO RadiothonOn June 3 2005 Rebekka was invited to sing at the Y101 CHEO Radiothon on the Mark and Nina morning show. Accompanied by her father playing guitar, she performed "I Hope You Dance" by Leann Womack . After the performance Mark called her "Rebekka Womack". Both hosts said she did Leann justice singing her song. This was the first time that she had ever performed on radio; and the first time in 7 years that they had had a live performer on the Y101 CHEO Radiothon. It was a great pleasure being on the show for such a great cause; she had raised money singing at the side walk sale in Brockville the weekend before and presented it after the performance.

Rebekka now has a full band and they are ready to perform for you at festivals, Fairs or events through out the region.  Watch for Rebekka in the future with an acoustic guitar or accompanied with her band. This young girl has a bright future ahead of her.

Quotes

Jim Wright - Ambush - The Road Report: August 14th, 2006
"Sunday, we had a great time in Brockville at Ribfest. To make the day even better, we had the Rebekka Paige Band opening up the show. Although I had heard the name before, I had never heard her sing, but WOW! Rebekka has an awesome voice, and it was a pleasure to hear her sing. It was great to meet her and her band, and family, and we swapped CDs and T-shirts, and had a great time. Please check her out if you ever get the chance".
